Combined Training Competitions

Louise and I are also running some Combined Training Competitions at Higher Merley Farm in Wimborne on 8th April and 23rd June. Classes range from 1ft 6' to 2ft 9'. The winner will receive prize money of £15 and rosettes to 6th Place. Thank you to our sponsors “D & G Equestrian Supplies” and “Longthorns Farm”. Before each competition we are running a practise day, so come and join in and give yourself the best possible chance of doing well at the competition. BHS Riding & Road Safety Training and exam

This is course is a mixture of practical and theory and will cover all aspects of the Riding and Road Safety syllabus. A training programme will be sent to you either via E-mail or post (please send SAE) on receipt of this booking form. You may only sit the exam if you have completed the training days.

Please book your exam through the BHS as soon as possible and let me know when you have confirmation. Application forms can be found on the BHS website www.bhs.org.uk and must reach their department 21 days prior to the exam. Exam fees are £35 for members and £45 non-members. Recommended reading is “BHS Riding and Roadcraft” which can be purchased from the BHS book shop £9.95 inc postage.

The fee is £180 per person payable in advance and covers eight and a half hours training and hire of the horse during training and during the exam.

Adult Camp

Adult camp is a great time to meet new friends and spend time with your horse whilst receiving expert tuition from qualified instructors. The camaraderie that develops at camp is fantastic and you will be amazed at your progress and achievements.

There are many activities to choose from dressage test practice, pole work to jumping a course, long reining, simulated X.C. to TREC massage and coaching in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NPL) Limited places available on first come basis.

Trailer Reversing Course

This is a practical course which gives you the opportunity to reverse your trailer in a large open space to build confidence. It moves on to reversing into spaces and reversing around 90 degree corners. It also covers basic hitching and unhitching and legislation can be discussed throughout the day on request.

This course is designed to give you confidence in reversing your trailer and is not designed to get you through the DVLA car and trailer test.

BHS Stage I Stable Management Training

Course Content: Grooming, feeding, saddlery, horse husbandry, the foot and shoeing, anatomy and handling, horse behavior, horse health, grassland care, health and safety aims of the BHS.

Time: Tuesday between 6pm -7.15pm

Cost: £15 per person per session (pay weekly)

BHS Jumping Clinic

This clinic takes place in the indoor arena at Kingston Maurward College. It allows you the opportunity to improve your jumping skills with expert tuition from Gilly. In small groups you will work on improving your position, balance and straightness and a variety of exercises to improve your jumping techniques then linking jumps together and followed by individual feedback.
